Course Overview

On completion of this unit, learners will have knowledge and skills in supervising formwork activities which include the construction, erection, alteration or dismantling and inspection of formwork structures at any worksite.

At end of the Course, Participants will acquire good knowledge & skill in Knowledge:

  • WSHA 2006 and subsidiary legislations

  • WSH (WORK at Heights) Regulations 2013

  • WSH (Construction) regulations

  • SS580 : 2012 Code of Practice for form work

  • SS311 : 2005 Specification for steel tubes and fittings used in tubular scaffolding

  • Roles & responsibilities of Form work Supervisor

  • Fundamentals of form work structure construction

  • Construction drawings of form work

  • Practical aspects and considerations of form work

Course Outline

  • Application of the WSH Act, its subsidiary legislations and the relevant Codes of Practice on Construction, Erection, Alteration or Dismantling of any formwork structure at a worksite

  • The roles and responsibilities of a Formwork Supervisor

  • Risk Assessment for formwork activities

  • Application of the fundamentals of formwork and falsework structure construction

  • Inspection of formwork and falsework structure before, during and after concreting

  • Failure in formwork structure, fire and emergencies response

Learning Outcomes

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to: 

  • Apply the WSH Act and its subsidiary legislations and relevant Codes of Practice to the construction, erection, alteration or dismantling of any formwork structure in a worksite

  • List the roles and responsibilities of a formwork supervisor

  • Assist in carrying out risk assessment for formwork activities

  • Apply the fundamentals of formwork structure construction

  • Ensure formwork structure construction is in accordance with approved design

  • Inspect formwork and falsework structure before, during and after concreting

  • Respond to failure in formwork structure, fire and emergencies

Target Audience

The “Supervise WSH for Formwork Construction” is a mandatory WSH training course for all workers supervising formwork activities works in construction sites and related industries.

Entry Requirements

  • Must be over 18 years of age Singapore citizen, permanent resident or holder of valid employment pass / work permit.

Assumed Skills & Knowledge

  • ESS WPLN Level 4 or equivalent
  • Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES Workplace Numeracy level 4 and above.
  • Preferably have completed and passed the relevant Formwork Course, SEC 8 (K) (Timber, Aluminium or System Formwork) by Building and Construction Authority (BCA)

Course Details

Course Duration: 36 Hours comprising theory and written assessment (4 hours)

Day Class: 4.5 Days / 4.5 Sundays Programme (08.30am to 6.30pm);

Evening Class:  9 Evenings Class (06:00pm to 10:00pm)

Course Attendance Record: 75% attendance

  • 100 Multiple choice Question

  • Role Play/Case Study

Certification

Results will be released within 1 week after course ends. Upon completion of the course and passing the examination, an e-Statement of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and a Safety Pass from Fonda Global Engineering Pte ltd will be awarded to you.
